Whether writing fantasy (Clara Wilde) or contemp (Olivia Bow), I love romance and always think there should be more spice. I’ve been called a chaos demon and a shameless flirt (both true), but in the end, I crave good stories. Characters who can fully be themselves and fight for what they want and who they love. Romances that are built on both grand gestures and quiet moments.
I write the stories I want to read, and that means I want my stories to make women feel powerful. As women, we’re more educated than ever before. We don’t need saviors; we want partners who share our burdens, sacrifice for us, and see the ways we sacrifice for them. The princess can save herself, but sometimes being rescued is accepting love. Yes, even in my stories of sexual submission (looking at you Club Bliss).
The spice is spicy, and my books are sex-positive. I grew up very religious and was taught at a young age that women should be ashamed of their bodies and ashamed of sex. If you’ve read the May Park Church Confessions, my religious trauma shouldn’t surprise you. Luckily, I’ve been able to work through my own shame and embrace the beauty of feminine sexuality.
